Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic - Tennessee Technology Center - Memphis

A.S. in Aircraft technology - North Central Institute

Growing up I played multiple sports, but it wasn't until after recovering from an injury in 2006 that I became more serious about weightlifting. As I continued my search for a sustainable program, I eventually found CrossFit.

With constantly varied workouts, I found that I never grew bored, as I had in a conventional globo-gym. I have always had a passion for health and fitness but it wasn't until I found CrossFit that I realized why my training wasn't yielding the results I wanted. CrossFit showed me an intensity and community that was unlike anything I had tried before, which has made me a stronger athlete both physically and mentally. There is nothing quite like the camaraderie and appreciation to hard work that comes from finishing a tough WOD or setting a new PR. I have a passion for fitness, and coaching and CrossFit allows me to share my knowledge and experience to others as a coach with my goal being to help others have positive life changing experiences and relationships.

I look forward to building a strong community at CrossFit Mechanix that embodies an atmosphere that is fun and welcoming. The feeling of watching others get stronger, happier, healthier, and having a great time training is what is what sets CrossFit apart from other programs. My plans for the future include CrossFit Level 3 and CrossFit Kids courses.

Amanda Day

CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Level 2, CrossFit Endurance

Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Memphis

Senior Clinical Specialist for Medtronic (Cardiac Devices)

10 years as a Cardiac Nurse and Pacemaker Rep

Growing up I played sports in High school. I was always doing something. My junior year I developed an eating disorder, which I battled through my senior year, until I got help for my disorder and found a much healthier outlet for my disorder with exercise. I taught aerobics, boot camp and spin classes for 5-10 years in the Cordova, Memphis and Bartlett areas. I have participated in two fitness competitions, one in 2003 and the other 2012 where I placed in both. In 2011 I found out about CrossFit online but didn't want to pay such a high price for the membership. I started watching YouTube videos and doing power cleans and attempting snatches in my living room (not recommended with hard wood floors.)

December 2011, a friend told me about a CrossFit affiliate that was opening in my area I could afford. I joined and haven't looked back! I have been a member at multiple gyms in the Memphis area and love each and every one of them for their unique styles, programs and the growth they gave me during my time there. I have done 3 CrossFit opens and 2 weightlifting competitions. I still love growing and learning even after almost 4 years. I love watching people improve and being a part of why they do! I want to help my athletes move better, feel better, and stay injury free. I am excited about growing as a coach here at Mechanix !
